We all have different names for it: the middle of the week, Hump Day, Worst day. Whatever you call it, Wednesday is good for more than just getting us one step closer to the weekend—it’s also the best day of the week to work remotely.

It may seem more logical to work from home or another flexible location on a Friday or Monday, but working outside of the office on Wednesday can break up your week, increase productivity and decrease commute stress.

Shari Buck, co-founder, and CPO at Doximity says that the “Work from Home Wednesday” policy at her company has made a huge impact:

“There are two reasons that scheduling our WFH [Work from Home] day in the middle of the week has turned out so well. The first is that it breaks up the week nicely: two days in the office, one day working remotely, and then two more days back in the office. This leads to a consistent workflow that balances several planning meetings early in the week, a productive Wednesday working from home, and two equally productive and collaborative days on the tail end of the week.”
