New York City isn’t called the city that never sleeps without reason.

And we here at Sococo have a sneaking suspicion that the fuel driving all that big city hustle and bustle might just be the insanely good java brewing in coffee shops throughout the city.

Our eyes and ears on the ground in NYC have let us in on the secrets of the best coffee shops to work virtually from in the Big Apple – because let’s face it, the combined cool factor of working in both your Sococo virtual office and a hip New York café is enough to get anyone excited!

Here are their top three picks:

1. Couleur Café – 435 7th Ave., Brooklyn, NY

If you like to pretend you’re working from a Paris café (and really, who doesn’t?), then Couleur Café is the perfect spot to settle in for the day. This coffee shop is so French, you may just start speaking with an accent during your Sococo meetings. From the chocolate croissants to the café au lait, this is authenticity at its finest.

There is always plenty of seating available, and we’re not just talking wimpy plastic or metal chairs here – Couleur Café is the real deal, with solid wooden tables and old-fashioned chairs that are about as Old World as it gets. And the atmosphere, the service, the décor, and the menu make it a non-issue that there aren’t many outlets to be had – just charge your laptop before you come, like all the other virtual workers camped out there!

2. Cusp, Crepe, and Espresso Bar – 321 7th Ave., Brooklyn, NY

So, now that we’re in a French state of mind, why not head on over to Cusp, Crepe, and Espresso Bar for some of the best crepes you’ve ever had? Not to mention some pretty incredible coffee, too. This cafe is such an institution that it’s known by locals as “the crepe place,” and according to legend, the secret to their amazing tasting (and almost frighteningly caffeinated) coffee is in the unique beans they use, for both drip and espresso. The maple latte? To die for.

But you’re not here to indulge yourself with rich food and drink all day – no, you’re here to work! And work you shall – but even the busiest workday will seem like a comfy cozy Saturday afternoon when you’re settled into this snug little coffee shop. You might even make a new friend, as the tables are set close enough together that it can feel like you’re sharing the spot! Virtual and in-person chatting going on at the same time? It’s blowing our mind just thinking about it.

3.  Ramini Espresso Bar & Café – 265 W. 37th St., New York, NY

Alright, alright, we’re moving on from all that French stuff. If you’re more into modern, sleek décor and innovative new treats, then Ramini will be right up your alley. Forget the lattes and muffins – this place has cold brew Japanese coffee and banana, hemp, and chia seed bread!

The only drawback for virtual workers is that there aren’t all that many tables here, so you’ll need to arrive early if you want to camp out for the day. Ramini is located inside an office building, so lots of workers take their laptops here for a quick and easy change of pace during the workday. Bonus – there is an upstairs seating area to ensconce yourself in if you can beat the crowds!

Thirsty yet? We’re thinking we just might need a little pick-me-up right about now, too. So if you’re in a New York state of mind, hit up one of these coffee shops and let us know what you think.
